Advantages and disadvantages of silicone oil

Hits: 867 img

1. Advantages:
  1) Many viscosity grades are available.
  2) The viscosity-temperature characteristics are better than all other lubricating oils.
3), good oxidation stability and thermal stability.
  4), excellent low temperature fluidity.
5), low volatility, even at low viscosity.
  6), high flash point.
7), compatible with sealing materials, plastics and coatings.
  8) The corrosion resistance and hydrolytic stability are similar to those of mineral oil.
  9), high chemical stability.
10), good electrical properties, namely high specific resistance and high dielectric strength (electrical insulation value).
  11), insoluble in water.
12), low surface tension, good wetting ability.
2. Disadvantages:
  1) The lubricity is poor under mixed lubrication conditions, especially for steel. Steel friction pair.
2), low load carrying capacity (anti-wear and anti-abrasion), can not be improved by additives.
  3) It is not compatible with mineral oil, synthetic hydrocarbon, ester oil, polyphenylene ether and perfluoropolyether.
  4), the price is high.
The excellent characteristics of silicone oil have made it widely used in industrial production, national defense, scientific research, and medical and health departments. It is mainly used for electrical insulation, demoulding, defoaming, damping and shockproof, hydraulic pressure, dustproof, waterproof and high and low temperature. Lubrication and other aspects.
