Silicon is a nonmetallic element. The most abundant element after oxygen is found in the earth's crust, mainly in the form of oxides and silicates with high melting points. Silicon is a material used in semiconductors and is the main raw material for solar cells and LED lights. It can also be used to make semiconductor devices and integrated circuits. At present, the application field of silicon has penetrated into every aspect of our life. Silicon metal is located at the top of silicon based new materials industry chain, is the core raw material of photovoltaic, silicone, alloy and other downstream industries.

       Industrial production of silicon using carbon reduction method, that is, silica, carbon reducing agent in the furnace smelting. At present, silica is widely used in China as raw material, petroleum coke, charcoal, wood chips, low ash coal as reducing agent, smelting at high temperature in mineral thermoelectricity, reducing silicon metal from silica process. Carbon dioxide emission involves direct emission from reduction reaction and indirect emission from fuel use.
