The release agent is a functional substance between the mold and the finished product.
Mold release agents are chemically resistant and do not dissolve when in contact with the chemical composition of different resins, especially styrene and amines.
The release agent also has heat and stress resistance, and is not easy to decompose or wear.
The release agent adheres to the mold and does not transfer to the workpiece being processed, and does not interfere with painting or other secondary processing operations.
Classification of release agents
1. Classified by usage
Internal release agent, external release agent;
2. Classified by lifespan
Conventional release agent, semi-permanent release agent;
3. Classification by form
Solvent-based release agent, water-based release agent, solvent-free release agent, powder release agent, paste release agent;
4. Classification by active substance
Silicon series—mainly siloxane compounds, silicone oil, silicone resin methyl branched silicone oil, methyl silicone oil, emulsified methyl silicone oil, hydrogen-containing methyl silicone oil, silicone grease, silicone resin, silicone rubber, silicone rubber toluene solution.
The difference between water-based and solvent-based release agents
1. Water-based release agent
Anti-acid, anti-alkali, anti-hard water, strong water solubility, good stability. Diluted with any proportion of water, no stratification, no demulsification, no caking, long shelf life, high solid content, and good dispersibility.
2. Oil-based release agent
It does not contain CFA, is environmentally friendly and non-toxic; the oil-based release agent does not corrode the product and the mold, does not affect the second processing of the product, and the surface is not greasy; it is especially suitable for the molding of large plastic shell products.
