What is vinyl silicone oil?
Chemical name: double-terminated vinyl silicone oil
Its main structural feature is that part of the methyl group (Me) in polydimethylsiloxane is replaced by vinyl group (Vi), thus forming reactive polymethylvinylsiloxane. Vinyl silicone oil exhibits the physical form of liquid fluid due to its unique chemical structure. Vinyl silicone oil is mainly divided into two types: vinyl-terminated silicone oil and high-vinyl silicone oil. Among them, vinyl-terminated silicone oil mainly includes vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (Vi-PDMS) and vinyl-terminated polymethylvinylsiloxane (Vi-PMVS). Due to the different vinyl content, it has different application characteristics. The reaction mechanism of vinyl silicone oil is similar to that of dimethyl silicone oil, but due to the vinyl group in its structure, it has higher reactivity. In the process of preparing vinyl silicone oil, the main process is the ring-opening equilibrium reaction process. This process uses octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, tetramethyltetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane, etc. as raw materials, and forms chain structures with different polymerization degrees through ring-opening reactions catalyzed by acid or base.
