Chemical structure and reaction characteristics of IOTA-5064

Hits: 243 img

The molecular structure of IOTA-5064 consists of a silicon atom (Si) connected to four propoxy groups (-OCH2CH2CH3). The molecular formula is Si(OCH2CH2CH3)4. Propyl orthosilicate has a central silicon atom, and four propoxy groups are connected to the silicon atom through silicon-oxygen bonds. The uniqueness of its structure is that the silicon atom can bond with other silicon-based materials or inorganic substrates through hydrolysis reactions to form a stable silicon-oxygen bridge.

In the presence of water, IOTA-5064 can remove the propoxy group through hydrolysis reactions to generate reactive silanol (SiOH) functional groups. Further condensation reactions can form stable silicon-oxygen bonds, thereby achieving intermolecular crosslinking or chemical bonding with inorganic substrates. This reaction characteristic makes IOTA-5064 an ideal coupling agent and crosslinking agent, which can effectively enhance the adhesion between materials and improve their mechanical properties and durability.
