Organosilicon is an important emerging material that is indispensable in industry, science and technology, national defense and military industries. However, in the long-term production practice process, the quality of industrial silicon has an impact on the main monomer product, dimethyldichlorosilane (hereinafter referred to as dimethyldichlorosilane). Exploring the influence mechanism of silicon powder quality fluctuation on the reaction activity and product selectivity in the synthesis reaction of organosilicon monomer is of great significance to the improvement of production efficiency of organosilicon products. The author comprehensively reviewed the current status of understanding of this mechanism of action and existing problems by production and research workers, and summarized the effects of changes in the physical and chemical properties of silicon powder on the chemical reaction activity and selectivity of monomer synthesis. The results show that changes in the impurity content, segregation phase characteristics, morphology, particle size and other factors of silica fume will promote or poison the monomer synthesis reaction. Intensified smelting and intensified refining are effective means to improve the quality of silica fume.
