The school of environment of Nanjing Normal University can be traced back to the establishment of the Institute of environmental science of Nanjing Normal University in 1987 with the approval of Jiangsu Provincial Education Commission. After that, with the support of geography, chemistry, energy, biology, ecology and other disciplines, it gradually recruited undergraduate and graduate students of Environmental Science and environmental engineering. In 2010, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of a master's degree program of "environmental science and Engineering"; in 2012, it approved the establishment of a doctor's degree program of "ecology"; in 2015, after the dynamic adjustment and selection of disciplines, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of a science and Technology Doctoral degree program of "environmental science and Engineering"; in 2016, the first level discipline of "environmental science and Engineering" was successfully promoted to the provincial level Discipline. In 2017, as a member of the discipline group, it entered the first-class discipline construction of geography. As one belt, one road University Environmental College Alliance, ESI entered the first 1% ranks of the world's ESI.
The construction of teaching and scientific research platform is perfect. Since the tenth five year plan, our school's "environmental evolution and ecological construction" has been listed as the national "211 Project" key construction project, relying on the "Key Laboratory of the Ministry of virtual geographical environment education", continuously improving and expanding the research direction and research platform of environmental discipline; selected and approved by the Department of education of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Province has successively established the "Key Laboratory of environmental evolution and ecological construction of Jiangsu Province", "Jiangsu Province" Key Laboratory of material circulation and pollution control; the first "pilot test platform for ecological restoration of water environment" in China has been established, and "Jiangsu Laboratory of ecological restoration of water and soil environment" has been selected and approved by Jiangsu development and Reform Commission in 2011. College has advanced equipment, teaching and research conditions.
Scientific research features are highlighted. On the basis of focusing on traditional environmental science research, relying on key laboratories and related key disciplines, the discipline aims at the frontier and research hotspot of environmental discipline development, pays attention to discipline integration and cultivation of new growth points, and has formed fresh in ecological restoration theory and engineering demonstration, multi-scale environmental evolution process and mechanism, dynamic monitoring of environmental remote sensing, regional environmental protection and management, etc Ming's characteristics and advantages enrich and develop the theory, technology and methods of environmental science. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 100 projects such as the national science and technology support plan, 863 plan, international cooperation project of the Ministry of science and technology, national major science and technology special project, National Natural Science Foundation project, and hundreds of provincial and ministerial projects, local and enterprise entrusted projects, effectively supporting the construction of environmental discipline and personnel training. The college has set up various scientific research and innovation practice platforms, implemented "undergraduate tutor system", "head teacher system" and other all staff education mechanisms, held college students' scientific and technological innovation cultural festival, carried out "College Students' social practice and scientific and technological competition of energy conservation and emission reduction", College Students' science fund, college students' innovation training project and other scientific research competition competitions, and improved students' scientific research and practice innovation ability.
