Organosilicon Industry Competition Intensifies: Technological Innovation and Cluster Development as Key to Breaking Through

Hits: 57 img

In 2025, the organosilicon industry, known as the "monosodium glutamate of industry", is ushering in a new competitive pattern. As a key material supporting high-end manufacturing and daily life, organosilicon is widely used in new energy vehicles, medical treatment, electronics and other fields due to its high and low temperature resistance and strong insulation. The focus of industry competition is shifting from scale expansion to technological breakthroughs and industrial chain integration.
From the upstream of the industrial chain, industrial silicon production has strict requirements on raw materials and energy. The purity of quartz sand needs to be more than 99.5%, and high-quality mineral resources in Jiangsu, Anhui and other places in China provide guarantees; the production process consumes extremely high energy, requiring 13,000 kWh of electricity per ton, making energy-rich areas such as Yunnan and Sichuan the core of industrial layout. In the middle stream of organosilicon monomer synthesis, the direct process dominates. The technological breakthrough of copper-based catalysts has broken the foreign monopoly. Dimethyldichlorosilane, as a core product, accounts for more than 80%, and the purification accuracy needs to reach 99.9% to ensure the performance of downstream products.
At the downstream application end, differentiated development has become the core competitiveness of enterprises. The demand for silicone rubber in new energy vehicle battery sealing and medical catheter fields has surged, and the technical differentiation between high-temperature rubber and room-temperature rubber is obvious; silicone oil has expanded to the cosmetics and pesticide fields through modification. For example, alkyl-modified trisiloxane products have become new growth points in the personal care and agricultural markets due to their low surface tension advantages. A domestic industrial cluster centered in Yongxiu, Jiangxi has been formed, with more than 170 enterprises realizing upstream and downstream linkage, reducing logistics costs while accelerating technical collaboration.
Currently, the industry is getting rid of the dilemma of low-price competition. Leading enterprises have optimized supply and demand through carbon emission reduction actions. Since 2025, the price of DMC, a core product, has risen by 15.3%, and leading enterprises have turned losses into profits in the third quarter. In the future, with the explosive demand in emerging fields such as new energy and photovoltaics, enterprises that master high-end material technology and industrial chain integration capabilities will occupy a dominant position in the new track of organosilicon.
