In January 2026, the research on preparation technologies for lithium battery cathode slurry has been newly sorted out. The characteristics and applicable scenarios of five mainstream processes including wet process, semi-dry process, dry process, solvent wetting process and twin-screw pulping process have been fully analyzed. NCM ternary and LFP lithium iron phosphate are the core cathode materials at present, and the slurry performance directly determines the coating effect of lithium battery pole pieces and the internal resistance of battery cells.
The wet process is a traditional technology with mature operation but long time consumption and weak slurry performance; the semi-dry and dry processes simplify the process and improve the solid content of the slurry, with the dry process taking only 4 hours; the solvent wetting process combines the advantages of dry and wet processes and omits the step of glue preparation; the twin-screw process can realize continuous discharge with the best batch stability of slurry, which is an ideal choice for high solid content and low viscosity, but has the problems of equipment wear and difficult cleaning. The pulping of high-nickel NCM materials has strict environmental requirements, while carbon nanotubes are often added to LFP slurry to improve conductivity.
