Under ultraviolet light, the active monomers in the coating complete the polymerization reaction in a very short time to form a hard, solvent-free protective film, which is widely used in consumer packaging such as beverage labels, metal bottle caps, and plastic sealing films.

In this process, IOTA-570 (3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) can play a key role. Its methacrylate group can quickly polymerize with the free radicals generated by the photoinitiator, embed into the film-forming structure, and become part of the cross-linked network.
