Patriotic health movement is a social health work style with distinct Chinese characteristics launched by Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other older revolutionaries and developed under the direct leadership of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. World Health Day is held every year on April 7 to commemorate the establishment of the World Health Organization. In China, April is the National Patriotic Health Movement month.
After the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia, general secretary Xi Jinping repeatedly stressed the need to adhere to the patriotic health campaign. During his visit to Zhejiang Province, he once again stressed that "patriotic health campaign should be carried out in depth, urban and rural environment improvement should be promoted, public health facilities should be improved, and a civilized, healthy and green way of life should be advocated."
