New Environmental Modification Solution: Easily Reduce Tg Value of Water-Soluble Acrylic Resin

Hits: 96 img

Water-soluble acrylic resin is widely used in the environmental protection chemical industry, but its high Tg value leads to rigid film formation at room temperature, limiting its application in some scenarios. Recently, a practical modification method has emerged in the industry, which can effectively solve this problem through the "three axes" of "soft monomers, chain transfer, and plasticization".
The core idea of this scheme is to weaken the intermolecular forces, allowing chain segments to move freely at lower temperatures. It specifically includes four methods: introducing water-soluble soft monomers such as hydroxyethyl acrylate for copolymerization, with higher proportions leading to more significant decreases in Tg value; adding chain transfer agents like isopropanol to reduce molecular weight and crosslinking; post-adding environmentally friendly plasticizers such as polyethylene glycol, which can further lower the Tg value by 5-15℃ with the dosage controlled within 5%; blending with low Tg value polybutyl acrylate emulsion to balance water solubility and flexibility.
Experts remind that after modification, key properties such as water solubility and water resistance need to be re - tested. For fields such as food contact and toys, compliance with REACH, FDA and other regulatory requirements is necessary. This scheme provides a low-cost and easy-to-operate modification path for relevant enterprises, boosting industrial innovation and development.
