IOTA 9970 Organopolysilazane Coating: 5H Hardness and SiO₂ Film for a "Glass Armor" on Car Paint

Hits: 378 img

In the automotive aftermarket, paint protection remains one of the top priorities for car owners. Unlike mainstream siloxane-based coatings, IOTA’s IOTA 9970 utilizes an organopolysilazane technology route. Upon crystallization, it forms a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) film, fundamentally elevating the hardness and durability of the coating.

Test data shows that the cured IOTA 9970 coating achieves a pencil hardness of 5H, visible light transmittance >90%, Grade 0 metal adhesion (cross-cut test), and a water contact angle of up to 110°. This means the coating is not only exceptionally hard and transparent but also offers superior oxidation resistance, UV protection, and hydrophobic properties.

After application, the product significantly enhances the gloss of the car paint, with particularly striking results on black vehicles. Normal washing can resume 24 hours after application, making daily maintenance effortless. The product has a 40% solid content in a mineral oil solvent; gloves should be worn during application.

"It’s not applying a layer of wax; it’s growing a layer of glass," the IOTA R&D team explains. IOTA 9970 is increasingly being adopted by professional auto detailing chains and premium coating service providers globally.
