New Breakthroughs in Lithium-Ion Battery Electrolyte Technology: Dual Improvements in Performance and Safety

Hits: 137 img

Recently, authoritative research in the lithium battery industry released a core technical analysis of lithium-ion battery electrolytes, revealing the key role of electrolytes in optimizing battery performance. As the "blood" of batteries, the composition design of electrolytes directly affects battery cycle life, safety, and adaptability to extreme environments.
Studies have shown that carbonate-based solvents have become the mainstream choice due to their excellent oxidation resistance, and LiPF₆ lithium salt excels in electrochemical stability and current collector passivation. The formation mechanism and performance requirements of the SEI film are emphasized—an ideal SEI film must possess core characteristics such as zero electronic conductivity and high ionic conductivity. Additive technology has achieved significant breakthroughs: film-forming additives like VC and FEC effectively prevent solvent co-intercalation, overcharge protection additives such as CHB greatly enhance safety, and flame-retardant additives reduce battery combustion risks.
R&D on new solvents and lithium salts has made progress. Carboxylate solvents improve low-temperature conductivity, while novel lithium salts like LiBOB and LiFSI show advantages in film formation and high-temperature stability. Additionally, the research clarifies the impact mechanism of impurities such as water and HF on battery performance, providing a scientific basis for electrolyte purification processes.
