POE-g-MAH and MAH Show Distinct Differences, Industrial Chain Linkage Boosts Chemical Material Upgrading

In March 2026, research and application of Maleic Anhydride Grafted POE (POE-g-MAH) and Maleic Anhydride (MAH) in the chemical industry have been further deepened. As important substances in the fields of plastic modification and resin synthesis, they are essentially different but closely connected in the industrial chain, becoming the key to promoting the development of polymer materials. MAH is a small-molecule organic raw material, appearing as white acicular crystals with high reaction activity but poor stability. It is a core raw material for organic synthesis, widely used in the production of unsaturated polyester resins and alkyd resins. POE-g-MAH, on the other hand, is a modified polymer material based on POE, a white granular semi-polar thermoplastic elastomer with excellent thermal stability. It is a special plastic modification additive that can improve the impact strength and compatibility of materials such as nylon. Their core connection lies in that MAH is the key grafting monomer for preparing POE-g-MAH, endowing non-polar POE with polar side groups through reaction to make it have toughening and compatibilizing functions. Notably, the two have different functions and cannot replace each other. The combination of raw materials and modified products provides dual support for the upgrading of the chemical and plastic industries.
