Amino-modified silicone softener refers to the product in which some side groups or terminal groups of silicone oil are replaced by amino groups. It has a wide range of applications and is suitable for the soft finishing of various textiles. It can give textiles a plump, smooth and soft feel.
1. In terms of yellowing, due to the presence of amino groups, especially primary amino groups, this structural form is prone to yellowing under the influence of heat or ultraviolet rays, and is not suitable for finishing of light-colored fabrics.
2. In terms of hydrophobicity, due to the large volume of the methyl groups on the silicon atoms in the silicone oil molecules, they repel each other and shift, thus requiring a larger rotation space. At the same time, due to the mutual repulsion of the hydrogen atoms in the hydrocarbon groups and the hydrogen atoms in the water, it is difficult for water molecules to approach the hydrophilic oxygen, making the surface hydrophobic, which causes the hydrophobicity of the finished fabric, making it non-absorbent and poorly breathable, seriously affecting the comfort of wearing.
3. The main way to increase hydrophilicity is to introduce polyether hydrophilic groups into the amino-modified polysiloxane molecular chain. It can be selected to compound with other softeners to improve the yellowing problem, or to perform emulsification treatment later to avoid oil spot problems.
Other uses: It can be used as a paint additive to increase its glossiness and durability. It can also be used in personal protection products such as cosmetics and shampoos to make hair bright and soft.
