Recently, the silicone industry has witnessed a series of important developments. Silica prices have risen significantly, with continuous actions by enterprises in compliance supervision and market layout, showing a trend of supply-demand adjustment and standardized development in the industry.
According to the market quotation on December 16, the mainstream transaction price of fumed silica in East China has risen to 14,500-15,000 yuan/ton, an increase of 1,000 yuan/ton from the previous period. Rising costs are the main driver, with enterprises enjoying smooth shipments and strong willingness to maintain prices. Low-price orders have basically disappeared, but there is no momentum for a breakthrough at the high end of the price range. Meanwhile, the domestic DMC market price remains stable at around 13,600 yuan/ton. Monomer manufacturers are advancing production cuts and emission reductions in an orderly manner, easing inventory pressure, but downstream demand is still cautious, resulting in sluggish market transactions.
In terms of industry regulation, a silicone company in Guangdong was investigated for environmental violations. The company built a rubber parts manufacturing project in April 2025 and put it into production without completing environmental impact assessment approval and acceptance of supporting environmental protection facilities. The Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment ordered rectification for issues such as unorganized emission of dust from the sandblasting process, requiring the company to complete relevant procedures or close the project by June 2, 2026.
Regarding enterprise dynamics, Sanyou Chemical announced the replacement of independent directors, nominating Mr. Huang Wei, an expert in polymer materials, to help upgrade the technology of core businesses such as silicone; Sika Group plans to acquire Swedish mortar manufacturer Finja to strengthen its layout in the Nordic market; Wuxi Chuangda New Materials will apply for an IPO on the Beijing Stock Exchange on December 18, planning to raise 300 million yuan for projects including a production line of semiconductor packaging materials. In addition, the 2026 Asia Silicon Technology Conference is scheduled to be held in Suzhou in April, focusing on technical exchanges and industrial cooperation in fields such as silicone and aerogel.
