New Breakthrough in Modified Elastomers: Application Scenarios of MAH-g-SEBS with Different Grafting Rates and Polar SEBS Fully Expanded

On December 18, 2025, UTPE Elastomer Portal released a professional analysis, uncovering the application characteristics of maleic anhydride-grafted SEBS (MAH-g-SEBS) and non-grafted polar SEBS. MAH-g-SEBS achieves polarity regulation through maleic anhydride group grafting, with the grafting rate directly determining its applicable scenarios, while non-grafted polar SEBS combines polarity and elasticity through molecular structure modification.
Low grafting rate (≤1.0%) products are suitable for PP/PE-based soft TPE granulation and non-polar substrate adhesives, balancing elasticity and processability; medium grafting rate (1.0%~1.5%) products serve as a universal choice for polyolefin toughening and semi-polar substrate bonding, significantly improving material impact strength; high grafting rate (≥1.5%) products effectively solve the compatibility problem of high-polarity material blending, enabling engineering plastic toughening and polar substrate bonding. Non-grafted polar SEBS focuses on polar additive dispersion, widely used in high-end functional TPE fields. These modified elastomers have been large-scale applied in stationery, automotive, home appliance, cable and other industries, providing a new path for material performance upgrading.
