2026 PV Encapsulant Film Innovation: POE/EMMA Blends Breakthroughs & Localization Drives Cost Reduction

In 2026, the PV encapsulant film sector sees pivotal technological advancements. With the rapid mass production of N-type cells and HJT technology, traditional EVA films struggle to meet the demands of high-efficiency modules due to shortcomings like poor PID resistance and hydrolysis susceptibility. POE films, however, have emerged as the top choice for upgrades thanks to their excellent moisture vapor barrier properties and aging resistance, yet the bottlenecks of poor interfacial adhesion and high costs remain to be solved. The latest industry research indicates that POE/EMMA blend modification is the solution path: introducing EVA-g-MAH compatibilizer resolves the two-phase incompatibility, with the optimal formulation achieving a transmittance of over 80% and compliant volume resistivity. The application of clean cross-linking agent TBEC precisely controls the cross-linking degree at 70%-80%, boosting tensile strength to 14.89MPa and peel strength to 65N/cm, balancing mechanical properties and adhesion. Meanwhile, the addition of UV-622 light stabilizer ensures a performance retention rate of over 85% after 600 hours of accelerated aging, significantly enhancing durability. The localization process is accelerating simultaneously. Domestic POE capacity is releasing rapidly, reducing the film unit price from 45 yuan/㎡ to 31 yuan/㎡ and cutting the module cost per watt by approximately 0.05 yuan. Going forward, high thermal conductivity films for high-power modules and salt spray-resistant materials for offshore PV will become key R&D focuses, extending module lifespan from 25 years to over 30 years and accelerating the energy transition.
