Synthetic quartz: a new direction for silicone applications?

High-purity quartz materials are divided into natural quartz materials and synthetic quartz materials. Synthetic quartz materials are widely used in high-end optics, semiconductors, aerospace and other fields because of their higher purity and better optical properties.
Common preparation methods for synthetic quartz include gas phase synthesis, chemical precipitation, sol-gel method and silicon tetrachloride liquid phase hydrolysis. Among them, the gas phase synthesis method is the flame hydrolysis method, which is similar to the gas phase silica process. Its principle is to use silicon or organic silicon chloride (such as SiCl4 or CH3SiCl3, etc.) raw materials, vaporize them and mix them with hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrolysis occurs at high temperatures to form mist-like SiO2, and finally the product is obtained through gas-solid separation such as cooling, separation, and deacidification.
In order to accelerate the innovative development of the high-purity quartz industry, Beijing Guohua New Materials Technology Research Institute has joined forces with the Yangtze River Delta Solar Photovoltaic Technology Innovation Center, the China-EU Photovoltaic Dual Carbon Leading Initiative (Zhongguancun Huaneng Solar Tracking System Industry Alliance), and the Donghai County Silicon Industry Industry The Association, the Silicon Industry Green Development Alliance and other units will hold the "2023 High Purity Quartz Material Technology and Application Summit Forum" in Wuxi, Jiangsu from October 30 to November 1. There will be in-depth discussions on the purification and synthesis of high-purity quartz sand, the processing and application of high-purity quartz glass materials, etc.
